Murder in the Backyard

The morning started OK. I woke from my slumber, took a shower and sat down to breakfast.

I got ready for work and as I opened the door to my backyard, I saw them!!!!

A platoon of slugs, heading for my border and my precious Strawberries!!

I ran to the kitchen and grabbed hold of the most lethal weapon I had that would be lethal to slugs...............

Table Salt!!!!

I went to the backyard and began to sprinkle the slugs with salt, boy, they soon started to shrivel and die!!!

Ten slugs dead, strawberries saved for a while until reinforcements arrived.

I quickly gathered all the ripe strawberries and put them in the kitchen where they would be safe...at least until I got back from work and devoured them!!!

Baby apple tree is now over 1ft tall.....

Red, Yellow and White roses in bloom...

Strawberries ripening...I ate one, slugs got two!!!

Raspberries have fruit, prob take a month or two to fully ripen.....

Damson tree is doing fine, but won't have any fruit this year as it is too young....

Pear tree is growing well, again, no fruit this year, maybe next as , like the damson it is a young tree.....

Chives and Parsley coming on great.....

Mint I'm growing indoors is flourishing.......I keep chopping fresh leaves  and I cut some for drying.......

Now I just have to get those damn slugs before they eat all my Strawberries!!!

04:30 Day Off?? WTF!!

It's nice to have a day off!! No need to get up early, enjoy a lie in......NO!!!!

Awake at 04:30!!!  Out of bed, shower, breakfast........Gardening???????

OK, so I'm awake ...may as well get out of bed and start the day...after shower & brekky, I decided to do a bit in the garden, since it hadn't started to rain yet....

dug out part of border, worked in 2 bags of topsoil and 1 bag of compost. border is now ready for planting, just need to decide what to plant.

I have a primrose in the other border which could be split into two plants, plus the other border needs completely digging out and the soil replacing since it has been rather neglected over the years.

Problem is , I have three rather nice rose trees there and I am reluctant to disturb them. I think I'll just move the primrose now it has finished flowering, and leave the rest of the border till around back end of September.

Work..Rest..Play...Pt 2

Had an enjoyable visit with Nephew, SWMBO and Little Princess.

The grill was fired up, the wine flowed, and a good time was had by all.

I was out of bed at 05:30 this morning, and, after a bath followed by breakfast, I was out in the garden by 08:00.I hope to have one border finished and my patio extended before lunch.  Then, the grass needs cutting, the other border needs completely re-working, and I need a drink!!

Since I will be in charge of digging and cutting implements, I think I shall stick to coffee!!!
