Since my flight to LA via Chicago involved around 14hrs of non-smoking travel, I bought a pack of nicotine patches for the flight.
On unpacking on my arrival I found that I had left my pipe and tobacco at home.
Since I only smoke a pipe I decided that I would continue with the patches. These worked well for my vacation and also for the flight home.
Since arriving home I have bought more patches, and am now in my second week without smoking.
Hopefully, I can continue with the patches, decreasing the amount of nicotine they contain until I no longer have the craving for a smoke.
It will take around 3 months to finally be rid of the patches and will take one heck of a lot of willpower as well, but I think I can do it. We'll just have to wait and see.
Let's hope this is a permanent smoke free zone!!

I am very impressed and very proud of you Sir! Keep it up!!!

Woot! Good for you!!!
When I first started your post, I got nervous. About 19 years ago, I was at work and they mandated a no smoking on the premises rule, which would not be bad, but I worked in a place with grounds and all, the size of a small military installation, complete with run way. So pretty much the smokers were in a jam. One of our guys would put on a patch for work, and then tear it off and go home and smoke. The patch package says not to do that. He ended up having a massive heart attack and dying AT WORK. Too much nicotine... I think.
They ended up rescinding the rule, all the Middle Eastern customers and the Japanese were seriously pissed, and you could go outside to smoke. I have wondered often if they had been more reasonable, how much longer Gary would have had with us.
And if you EVER doubt what you've done is a good thing, you email me and I will tell you stories of my boss, who is right now fighting lung and throat cancer. He keeps emailing us at work saying, "I so wish I could tell everyone to not smoke..."

Tammi:
Thank you, I intend to keep it up, I just hope I can.
Bou:
I am following the directions to the letter. I have heard stories of nicotine overdose and they are not pretty.
