While waiting for the gloss paint to dry, I decided to have a wee dram or three.

Sat at my computer, I happened upon this site: Singlemalt.tv

I must have watched around eighteen videos!!

Can't remember whther I'm on my fifth or eighth wee dram!!

I think it's time for bed!!

What??....No Paint????

Today has been a paint free day.

I have spent most of the day filling, sealing and sanding.

If and when I wake up tomorrow, I shall apply some gloss paint to a bit more of the woodwork.

Whilst that is drying I shall do a teensy weensy bit of retail therapy.

Once the gloss has dried I shall continue with the painting of the wall(s).

You think you are bored now!!!

Wait till next week.....................

Who? What? Why? When? Where?

Who?.....Me!
What?....Painting!
Why?.....It needed doing!
When?....All week and for the foreseable future!
Where?...At this moment in time it is my lounge!

Last time I decorated it was to cover up the horrible. sickly lime green walls. Consequently it was a rush job. i.e. it took a week or so.

This time I want it to look as near professional as I am capable of, so I am taking my time. Something I happen to have plenty of!!!

I am tackling the room in stages, roughly 1/4 at a time. This means that I don't have to move furniture any more than is neccesary and allows me to still use the room.

It also explains why I haven't been posting every day.

Theoretically, I should have the room painted in a couple of weeks, then I can order carpet.

I have just had a couple of pork chops and am on my third glass of Zin.  I am going to watch a DVD and then put some gloss paint on the woodwork.  That should be dry by morning when I can put the final coat of emulsion on the wall.

Sunday, the Day of Rest???

I've been sort of busy today!

A lot of cleaning, a bit of painting, three loads of laundry!

Now I am relaxing with a glass or two of wine while my dinner is cooking.

Tonight is Steak night, grilled rump steak (20oz)
Roast potatoes
Broccoli
Peas and carrots.

Apple Crumble with Sauce Anglais

A few more glasses of fine wine.

Tomorrow?  More cleaning and painting.

Then I shall browse the internet for carpets.

If the weather is good I may do some gardening.

Then i shall relax with a wee dram or three!!

It's hard work being retired.......

.....there's so much to do!!

Garden needs a lot of work now that Spring is (almost) here.  I need to trim my bush, shrubs need pruning, fruit trees need pruning, border needs digging up and re-planting.

House needs spring cleaning, curtains need washing, kitchen needs re-planning....the list is endless.

Sometimes I wish I was back at work(NOT)

Why?.........

......do I wake at 04:30 when I DO.NOT.NEED.TO???????

So, having woken early, I decided to get out of bed, shower, dress and fix some kick-ass bacon and eggs.  Two cups of fresh coffee later, I am ready for anything.

I have decided to do some computer maintenance so I will be offline later for a few hours.

I'll also be getting rid of some work related cr*p and generally tidying up.

Then I might just go for a drive and chill out in the countryside.

I have now reached the end of my working life.  I am no longer employed.  Tomorrow will be the start of my "Do what I want to do" life.

I intend to make the most of it!!

The first thing I intend to do is have a  celebratory whisky or six!!

Then, tomorrow, I shall start some planning.

Right now I am in "Super relaxed" mode.

Last Weekend Before Retirement...

....took car to nephew's to fit spark plugs.  Engine running infinitely better.

Went for a drive to evaluate. No problems. Stopped at a pub to buy Nephew a drink or two.

Rest of day was layzee!!

Cooking a couple of steaks and roasting a few potatoes to go with a bottle of Chianti.

The Final Countdown.......

.....to Redundancy/Retirement!!

Just one more week and I will be free of the shackles of work!!  Able to do my own thing, not having to request time off, free to enjoy life!!

I fully intend to make the most of it, so expect a lot of photos as I travel around the country.

So much to do, so much to see and all the time in the world to experience it.

Right now I am gonna sort out the ingredients for supper.

I'm having stir fried chicken followed by apple crumble.

Wine will be Chenin Blanc.

Whisky will be Glenmorangie Nectar D'or.
