Wish I Had Retired!

This job is boring! Spend most of the day sitting on my ass!  Actually travelled 38 miles one day(28 of them were home to base and back!)

If I'd known it would be like this I would have retired!! As it is, I am now committed to carry on working till Christmas!!  Then the situation will be reviewed.

Still waiting for my Private Pension Check which is going to pay for my USA Trip, if I get it in time!! Should have had it last week. I've sent letters, but so far no response.

I have enough money for the flight and hotel, but I need the check for beer tokens, and retail therapy.

Gonna reeeeeelaaaaaxxx with a couple of drams of Aberlour, watch a DVD and then off to bed.

Back in Business

It has been agreed that I will continue working for Company "A" until the end of the year, with the option of continuing further.

Basic 40hr week, Mon-Fri with optional overtime Sat/Sun.

Not the kind of work I am used to, but not the kind to stretch my intelligence either!!

Still, it should keep me out of mischief!!

Drink Problem?...Me???....Not any more......

Called round Nephew's today to disconnect his shower.

He has fitted a new bath, and is tiling bathroom walls.

Sooooo!!!....turn water off..check!......turn eletrickery off....check!....remove shower from wall.....check!.......disconnect wires from shower....check!

DO NOT Join EARTH WIRE WITH LIVE WIRE!!!!!.....FLASH>> BANG>>>OOPS!!!

TURN OFF ELECTRICKERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do I go from here?..........

I was introduced to blogging via a link on BBC News Online.

That link was to Blackfive.

From there I clicked on links to various sites, and have never looked back.

I have read the real news from Iraq and Afghanistan.

I have read the trials and tribulations of the spouses left behind.

I have enjoyed the humour, shared the pain, and the relief.

Although I am a Veteran, I am not a milblogger. My Army service ended in '71. I served in Germany, Aden and the Trucial States(as they were then known).

Blogging has brought me a whole bunch of new acquaintances and it would be a pleasure for me to meet them all in person, but I don't think I could cover all the states in the US within the timeframe of one week.

I had been planning a visit to Las Vegas in September, and Tammi told me that the Milblog Conference would be on around the time I would be in Vegas.

Since I don't yet know whether I will still be working, or retiring, I haven't yet finalised my plans.

If I am still working, I will have only one week vacation, in which case Vegas would be the obvious choice.  However, should I be retired, then I would have more time to spend in the US and maybe visit other States.

So, where do I go?

At the moment I am keeping my options open, but a US visit is definite.

Home Sweet.....Work!!

Tomorrow I have to send back all the spare parts which I hold as stock.

I have them all stacked up in my living room.

I have to sort through them, check barcode numbers, attach labels to them, then I get to put them all back in my van.

Tomorrow, I will meet up with my Line manager, who will check all my stock against his list.

Once this has been done, all the boxes will be scanned and taken off my stock list.

Then I will hand over all the minor bits and pieces, phone, ID Badge, USB Sticks, CD's etc.

When I'm through with all that, I shall get back to laying my patio or drinking whisky.

On Monday I have a meeting with Senior Management to discuss my options.

I'm still planning my visit to USA.  If I am still working I will only have a week, but if I'm no longer employed I may extend the visit.  At the moment it looks like Vegas is going to be the cheapest option, but I'll make my decision nearer the time.

End of an Era

I had a phone call yesterday from Senior Management at Company "A".
Someone who actually knew what was happening.

The contract with Company "B" will end at midnight tonight!!

He doesn't know if Company "A" will still have work for me, but he has promised to find out what he can and call me back today.

I have Fri, Sat, and Sun off so I will either be back at work on Monday or handing over my vehicle and all relevant equipment, and stepping into retirement.

Hello pipe!! Hello slippers!, Hello rocker on the front porch!, stand by, I may be needing all three of you!!!

Come Rain or Shine, I'll get it Done!!!

Today's weather is Sunny periods with showers.

Works fine for me....I have a patio to finish re-laying....I also have several bottles of Corona to drink!

So....while it's sunny... lay patio....showers....drink beer!!!

Can't guarantee how level the patio will be, but hey! who cares??  Hic!!

Having memory probs!!..can't remember when I'm supposed to lay patio and when to drink!!!

Sunny...drink...showers..drink....patio???...what patio???? ....DRINK!!!!
